                                  Little Moments


Lisette “Lisa” Smurfette was resisting the urge to laugh at the sight in front of her.  Her 20 year old Smurfling twins, Austin Smurf and Autumn Smurfette were holding opposite ends of a piece of yellow ribbon, giggling like silly.  The strawberry blonde noticed that many of their toys had been victims of their latest ‘adult’ find.  “Got Dada, Mama.” Austin babbled, his blue eyes lit up with joy.  It didn’t take Lisa long to find her husband and the twins’ father on the floor wrapped in the shiny ribbon like an early Easter present.  Wooly Smurf gave off a sheepish grin at his wife.  Even if Lisa is mild-mannered for the most part, she’s not one to excuse certain rules being broken.  In other words, Wooly was in trouble, whether he saw it that way or not.  The former Nymph Fairy princess giggled some before saying, “I believe that it’s best that we untie Daddy and clean up this mess.”

The twins’ smiles fell a little, but knew that when their Mama says “Enough is enough.” to them, she means it.  After untying Wooly, the twins started doing the same to their toys.  Once the mess was dealt with, the strawberry blonde pulled her husband to the side for a talking to.  “Wooly, I told you that if the kids got their hands on that ribbon and you’re responsible for giving it to them, I’d make you sleep on the couch for the night.” Lisa said in a stern tone.  The sheepshearer swallowed before responding, “Baby Girl, I did place tha ribbon where tha kids can’t reach it.  They took full advantage of me bringin’ it out of tha closet to wrap Easter presents.”  His mate gave a wistful shake of her head before letting a tiny giggle out.  “Besides, ya found it quite funny seein’ me lassoed like tha’, Honey.” Wooly added, rubbing the back of his head, feeling a little flustered mentioning that part.

“It was quite a funny sight, which I won’t deny.  Austin is his father’s son.”

“Those kids are their dad’s children, Puddin’.”

Lisa had to admit that her mate was right about that.  Austin is the spitting image of his father, minus his strawberry blonde hair.  Autumn took more after her in the looks department, but her wavy locks are chocolate brown, matching Wooly’s growing sideburns.  However, Autumn’s hat looked more like Farmer’s hat, only it is pink and not tan.  “Mama, Dada?” Autumn asked, her grass green eyes looking big and wide at her parents.  “What is it, Sweetie?” Lisa answered, kneeling to pick up their daughter.  Wooly also turned his attention on her.  “Are Austin and I in bwig trouble?” the pink-wearing Smurfling asked, her face frowning a little.  The strawberry blonde thought for a moment before answering, “Not this time, but if it happens again, you and your brother will be put in timeout.  Are we clear on that?”  The brunette toddler nodded, happy that she wasn’t in trouble.

The sheepshearer was relieved to hear his wife say that.  Yes, raising the twins had been hard for them, especially Wooly.  Both Austin and his sister prefer playing with him more, so he’s often the one getting worn out.  In a sense, Wooly was beginning to understand how Papa felt when he was the twins’ age.  Then again, he’s not the only worn out young dad in the village.  “Why don’t ya kids start gettin’ ready fer dinner?  I betcha yer Uncle Chef’s gonna make yer favorite meal.” he suggested with a smile on his face.  The twins wasted no time scampering off to their room to check themselves over.  Lisa smiled some before asking, “Wooly?”

“Yea, Darlin’?”

“Get that ribbon out before bedtime and you’ll be dead before daylight.”

Wooly swallowed nervously before saying, “Don’t worry, Baby Girl, I won’t smurf tha’ stunt again around ‘hem.  Besides, it’s betta’ to snuggle with ya than anysmurf else.”  Lisa gave a small sigh as her mate grabbed her in a behind hug and nuzzled her hair, a smile still on her face.  Looking back on her former life, the former Nymph Fairy princess was glad that she chose Wooly over everyone else back then.  She would’ve been miserable with her late suitor Nolan and no other man appealed to her.  Not that none of the other Smurfs weren’t attractive in their own ways, but Wooly had a certain charm to him that made him stand out more to her.  Lisa’s smile grew a little more before saying, “I love you and I don’t know what I’d do without you, but Wooly, I meant what I said before.”  The sheepshearer smirked before remarking, “I meant what I said too, Puddin’.”  The strawberry blonde gave her husband a light shove.

“We’re ready, Mama and Dada.” Autumn said, coming out of her and Austin’s room.  Her older twin brother soon followed.  “So are we, kids.” Lisa replied, Wooly letting go of his wife’s waist, nodding in agreement.  The two adult Smurfs each grabbed one of the twins’ hands and left their mushroom house.  As the familiar dinner bell rang, signaling all of the Smurfs to the mess hall, the sheepshearer knew one thing is certain in life.  It was little moments like these that made being a parent worth it and Wooly wouldn’t trade his precious treasures for anything else.  Not even for the opportunity to be a single Smurf again if he was given such a thing.  Lisa felt the same way, glad to have had been in the enchanted forest at the time she and Wooly first met all those years ago.

To them, being parents is better than having nothing at all.
